My name is Shakur Elmi the Co-founder and President of BeiNEarth Inc. and a student of Sustainable Urban Agriculture.
We have all heard or used the expression “think globally and act locally”. We can debate or have different opinions of what is causing climate change but the fact is climate change is here and it’s happening.
In 2020 I traveled from San Diego, California to visit East Africa where climate change is devastating the ecology system. People, societies, cultures and economies are affected by severe drought, floods, extreme heat and etc. According to climate.org In 2023, the United States experienced 28 separate weather and climate disasters.
Meanwhile, my local communities in San Diego California, I have witnessed 01/22/2024 extreme rainfall caused record flooding, “facing the mess in person” I call it.
This reminds me of Active Hope “How to face the mess we’re in without going crazy” authored by Chris Johnstone and Joanna Macy.
