Climate change refers to significant, long-term changes in the global climate patterns, primarily caused by human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes. These activities release large amounts of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, into the atmosphere, leading to an enhanced greenhouse effect and global warming. The impacts of climate change are widespread and severe, including rising sea levels, more frequent and intense extreme weather events like hurricanes and heatwaves, disruptions to ecosystems and biodiversity, and adverse effects on agriculture, water supply, and human health.
